We honor your journey
The queer community is a diverse group of individuals with different backgrounds, beliefs, and life experiences. We know that you are on your own unique journey, and our goal is to help you feel supported and understood every step of the way. At Ray Family Therapy, we provide a safe and open space for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex, transgender (or genderqueer or nonbinary), queer, or questioning community.
As a queer person, you’re three times more likely to experience a mental health condition, such as anxiety or depression. Additionally, more than half of people who identify as transgender face mental health struggles and have a higher risk for self-harm and suicide. You don’t have to go through this alone. We are here to support you, guide you, and help you work through past trauma, release old shame, and create a new way of being. You are worthy of living life freely and fully, and being able to show up in the world as the truest version of yourself.

Support for queer teens
Being a teenager comes with a rollercoaster of experiences, emotions, and growth. We’re here to support you and help you navigate this chapter of life as you continue to learn more about yourself. We provide counseling to LGBTQIA+ teens who want to feel understood, accepted, and supported. There is tremendous joy and freedom that comes from honoring who you are, but we know that challenges can come along with it. Coming out is freeing, but we know it can also be incredibly nerve-wracking. It can be devastating when those closest to you have trouble understanding and accepting who you are, and let their own judgement and fears affect you and your mental health. Whatever you’re going through, whether it’s dating as a queer teen, figuring out your own identity and sexuality, or have people in your life who are homophobic, we offer a space for you to open up and feel safe.
Parents of LGBTQIA+ Individuals
As parents, we want to be there for our children and understand how we can best show up for them. Here at Ray Family Therapy, we offer a judgement-free zone where you can open up, ask questions, and work through old beliefs of yours or your family’s that might be affecting the way you approach gender and sexuality. We will meet you where you’re at and be there along the way as you learn how to best support yourself and your child.
Relationships & Sexuality
Relationships are complex, unique, and ever-evolving. There are so many facets that encompass a relationship and it can take time and commitment to continue improving your relationship. Couples therapy can be an incredible asset to help a relationship thrive and become even stronger.
If your sex life is an area of concern, you can feel safe comfortably sharing with inclusive therapists who are here to help you thrive in your relationships, sexuality, and life in general.
You can talk about how your family’s beliefs and religious influences left you feeling shame and unloved. You can openly share fears and pain about our current political and social environment. We can explore ways you can manage your anxiety and fear about losing or not having the same civil liberties as other people in this country.
We have resources to help you find an affirming spiritual home and are trained in EMDR and Gottman Method.
Gender affirming support
Our therapists can help you through your transition and guide you through the process. Whatever stage you’re at in your transition, we provide an open space to explore and learn more about yourself. Trans is beautiful, and we celebrate wherever you are in your journey. In addition, we offer support in getting gender-affirming surgery letters. Our therapists can provide the necessary documentation for you to get the medical care you deserve.
Do you relate?
You knew from an early age that you felt different. You carefully planned how you would come out to friends and family. Some people supported you, and sadly, some rejected you. You’ve been asked insensitive questions because you are queer and people make assumptions about your life. You feel like no one understands you and aren’t sure where you fit into the world.
You need someone to talk to because you feel saddened by the inequality in the world, the discrimination you face day in and day out, and want to understand how you fit into your family…or don’t…but be okay with it. You’ve thought about ending your life, and you experience anxiety that keeps you awake at night.
Sometimes you resort to numbing out the pain because you feel unlovable.
Maybe you’re worried about coming out and how it will affect your career, home life, or religious beliefs. Maybe you tone down different parts of yourself to make others feel more comfortable, but it comes at the cost of compromising your own authenticity and sense of self.
Perhaps you’re in a relationship and are working through the challenges that come with being in a same-sex or queer relationship. There may be toxic family dynamics that are affecting your relationship or internalized shame or stigma.
You don’t have to go through this alone.
