How to release trauma through the body

Releasing traumatic energy looks different for each person. A few ways our bodies release stored trauma include:

  • Shaking

  • Yawning

  • Heating up

  • Shivering

  • Crying

  • Laughing

A good laugh or cry is incredibly healing. Yawns increase your oxygen intake and make you feel more alert. Shivering keeps you warm, and increased body heat keeps you going. Our bodies are naturally brilliant and know what to do. Giving yourself and your body the space to release and let go is the first step.

Hang in there, and take care of your body while it takes care of you.
